I+D+i Technical Support Staff

Sebastián Fernández Sánchez

I studied the Degree in Biology at the University of Murcia (UMU) and later I did the Master in Research and Advances in Microbiology at the University of Granada (UGR), finishing my studies in 2020. Since 2021 I am Technical Support Staff I+D+i at the UAL (University of Almeria), being hired through the National Youth Guarantee System (SNGJ). My research at CAESCG (Andalusian Center for the Evaluation and Monitoring of Global Change) focuses on the study of biodiversity conservation and the integrity of arid and semi-arid ecosystems, assessing the impact of invasive species such as Agave fourcroydes Lem (Henequen) and Agave sisaliana Perrine (Sisal) using various groups of arthropods as bioindicators.

RESEARCH

My research interests are focused on the study of biodiversity in arid and semi-arid ecosystems, focusing especially on the order Hymenoptera and the different families found within it. The aim is to obtain a record of the species found both in the aerial and terrestrial parts, so that this group can be used as a bioindicator of the changes produced in the ecosystem.
