Abstract:

The final task is about Life Adaptamed project, and it had as aim to evaluate and quantify the abundance and diversity of the arthropofauna characteristic of the shrub communities presided over by Ziziphus lotus (L.) Lam. (azufaifo) present on the coastal plain of the Cabo de Gata-Níjar Maritime-Terrestrial Natural Park (Almería). Some areas of this habitat are invaded by two exotic species (Agave fourcroydes Lem. And Agave sisalana Perr.), So arthropod communities have been compared in three types of areas: azufaifo without agave, with agave and with removal of agave (action carried out in 2017 within the framework of this project). In addition, the different collection periods of the samples have also been taken into account to check the evolution of the arthropofauna of the area: March (early spring), April (middle spring and May (late spring). The results show that the diversity of arthropods at the order scale does not vary significantly between the different environments, so the presence of agaves does not alter the representation of the orders. However, an increase in the abundance of beetles has been found in the invaded environments versus the non Invaded. In addition, springtails have been found to be significantly more abundant in non-invaded azufafio trees. The differences observed between the different periods studied may be due to the order life cycles and the different environmental conditions of each period.
arthropod communities have hardly been affected after the actions of agave removal, being very similar to the areas in vaded, probably because the removal of these is still very recent. It should be noted that it would be interesting to delve into the differences in diversity and abundance of the different environments for the Coleoptera order, as it is a good environmental indicator, in order to check how the invasions and withdrawal of agaves have affected the study area.
