Communicating Science: Biological Invasions

Biological invasions are one of the main threats facing ecosystems today. So far, there is a great lack of knowledge about the ecological and evolutionary consequences of biological invasion processes. This video presents the results of a joint research project carried out by researchers from the University of Coimbra (Portugal) and the University of Vigo (Spain) in which they have tried to clarify the patterns that govern biological invasion processes. To this end, the researchers have worked with the plant species native to South Africa, Oxalis pes-caprae, which currently behaves as an invader in all the Mediterranean climate ecosystems of the planet.
