CAESCG has participated in the Kick Off Seminar of the Biogeographic Process for the Mediterranean Region of the Natura 2000 Network.
Held in Thessaloniki, we have had the opportunity to share with our colleagues from the other Mediterranean countries of Europe, points of view, methodologies, case studies and common interests to develop the Natura 2000 Network in the Mediterranean Region. The initiative aims to promote interaction between scientists and managers from different countries through the Natura 2000 Platform (http://ec.europa.eu/environment/nature/natura2000/platform/index_en.htm). Our role has been to show methodologies to incorporate the monitoring of ecological processes as a conservation objective. The experience has been very interesting and we bring with us tasks to lead the development of a common monitoring protocol for the habitats of Directive 92/47/EEC.
